Sten Laidoner, founder of Laidoner Solutions

Who is behind Laidoner Solutions?

I started as a computer enthusiast and gradually moved into freelance software quality work, supporting international clients across private and public sector projects.

My work has never been limited to only checking finished features. I often get involved where quality, clarity or product progress needs support: testing complex user flows, validating APIs, improving defect reporting, creating useful documentation, helping with consistency issues and spotting recurring problems before they slow the team down.

I have worked across different industries, including crisis management software, financial products, automotive-related projects and other software environments.

The way I work is simple: I treat every product as if it were my own.

That means I care about the result, not only the task in front of me. I try to understand the product, the users, the risks and the business context behind the work. When I see something that can improve the product or help the team work better, I speak up and try to move it forward.

For me, good quality work is about being reliable, proactive and useful to the team building the product.

Work principles & process

The work is built around clear communication, practical testing and reports that help developers understand what needs to be fixed.

Clear reporting

Issues are reported with context, steps, expected result, actual result and release impact.

Direct communication

You work directly with the person doing the testing, without unnecessary layers.

Release focus

Testing is focused on the flows, risks and user-facing issues that matter before release.

Practical testing

The work is hands-on, realistic and based on how users actually interact with the product.

Reliable follow-up

Findings are easy to review, retest and follow up with the development team.

What teams value

Useful QA without unnecessary noise

The goal is not to create long reports for the sake of reports. The goal is to find useful issues, explain them clearly and help the team move faster.

Clear bug reports

Fast feedback

API testing

Edge case thinking

Localization review

No agency overhead

How the work usually flows

A simple process keeps QA work clear from the first review to the final follow-up.

01

Understand the product

Start by understanding the product, users, key flows and release risks.

02

Test real user flows

Check important paths, edge cases, broken states, inputs and realistic user behaviour.

03

Report clear findings

Document issues in a way developers can act on without guessing what happened.

04

Support release decisions

Highlight risks, retest fixes and help the team move forward with more confidence.
